Very cool concept. I watched both videos just to see what would happen next and not necessarily to hear the entire song. Oh those smart bastards. Friggin’ wordpress doesn’t allow me to resize the videos so you guys can see them side by side. Try opening both videos up in separate windows for the full effect.
Start the second video as soon as it fades to black after the countdown. Enjoy!!!

Sad. I hesitate in posting this since it’s just way too painful to watch, but if you’re into watching celebrities crumble before your very eyes, but all means hit play. Send this girl to rehab! Give her a cheeseburger while you’re at it!
LONDON, England (CNN) — Amy Winehouse’s first full U.K. show in seven months has been overshadowed by an incident in which she appeared to throw a punch at a fan in the front row. The incident occurred during the troubled singer’s performance Saturday at the Glastonbury Festival in front of around 80,000 people. Stepping down into the pit between the outdoor stage and the audience during a rendition of “Rehab,” Winehouse seemed to lash out at a member of the crowd before being gently escorted back to the stage by security staff.
Winehouse lashed out because someone grabbed her breasts, according to festival organizer Michael Eavis.
(Obviously Lupe’s not in this picture but its too hilarious to pass up)
In continuation of our previous entries about A-Trak’s Running Man, here’s another track. According to A-trak this is the original version; the one on Running Man features Kid Cudi. You’d think that A-Trak + Lupe Fiasco=absolute win, but not really the case this one. I’m not going to lie it sounds surprisingly generic Top 40s Hot 97 material but you can judge for yourself.
The music insider explained to MediaTakeOut.com, “He’s been through a lot in the past year and I know he’s just not into [music] like he was before.” The insider added, “When I spoke to him, he just kept talking about how he wanted to go into fashion. [To] create his own label and all that.”
And according to our insider, it wouldn’t be the worst move for him. The executive told MediaTakeOut.com, “Right now he’s at the top of his game … and it’s always best to go out on top.”

“Question: exactly how many ‘next Amy Winehouses’ can there really be?”
The same folks behind one of my favorite blogs (soul-sides.com) started an audio blog just for the summer, soulsummer.blogspot.com. In a recent post, they discuss the phenomanon that has everyone and their moms jumping on the soul-tinged bandwagon created by Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones (both with the help of the Dap Kings).
…the upside to all this is that 2008 is shaping up to be a summer chockfull of retro-soul-esque production. I mean, sure, a lot of it is derivatives of derivatives - is there such a thing as neo-retro-soul? Hmmm…) but frankly, I’d rather listen to a bad clone of a clone of Motown/Stax than some of the new music that’s the alternative.
Case in point, three more recent artists on the retro tip, all of whom I’ve found perfectly enjoyable even if two of them seem to be riding the bandwagon.
Check the full posthere and see what each of the tracks below compare on the “Wine-o-meter.” I’m really feeling Solange’s track. All I gotta say about Estelle is that her album is that crack for the summer. Seriously. All of these tracks makes me want to imagine what’d it be like if North Philadelphia was filled with white sand and blue water, not grime and concrete. Oh, summer.
